Today I want to just listen to what the Universe has to say about kindness and the world right now. Are you interested? Me too. So… here we go:
Dear Ones - it is our honor to join you on this beautiful, beautiful day! Oh, it is not quite so beautiful, you might say? What do you mean by that? Look around you - don’t you see what gently swaying branches of your beloved tree? Don’t you see the sweet pink flowers you have just planted in your planter? Don’t you see your sweet son sitting on the couch? Don’t you feel the warm sun as it touches your face before it is gone for the evening? Don’t you feel the soft chair beneath you and feel comfort? Don’t you still taste the delicious dinner you just ate? What is not beautiful about all of this? Oh, there is this other thing, and this other person, and these memories that are not so pleasant. Is any of that now? Is it happening to you right now? No? Then why are you not happy? But sometimes bad things DO happen, you challenge us. And yes, sometimes ‘things’ are not quite so pleasant, but still, in all of that, there is beauty and grace. What does grace mean? Grace means being grateful, to sigh, a privilege. Think of the most painful experience you have had recently. Did you sigh, were you grateful about any of it, did you consider it even a privilege to be able to experience it, even if you only felt that AFTER it was all over? For we tell you, there is a certain beauty in difficulty - it opens you, softens you, strengthens you with a silver core that is not to be found in the ‘easy’ life. How can you build strong muscles if you never have to lift anything heavy? How can you be healthy if you just sit around all day? You cannot. Health and strength and even happiness is found in action and movement, of all kinds.
You worry, you plan, you get angry, you get afraid. Do any of these things make your life better? No? What would make you happy? Smiling, laughing, breathing, being with other people who are kind, seeing beauty, loving others, being loved. We invite you, no, we challenge you, to stay in a state of happiness for the next week, to finish out your month of kindness, for we think this will be the kindest act of all, for it will help YOU in your life. We trust it does not sound easy, for it is not. Being awake and aware is not easy - you need to be willing to be new in every encounter and thought. Are you willing to do this? Yes? That is good. We trust you will not be sorry. And neither will anyone who undertakes this challenge with you. Is anybody there who is willing to take the Happiness Challenge? Yes? Then let’s get to it - let’s get happy - let’s stay happy - let’s BE Happy.
